Cllr Mark Cory has been pursuing repair works to the Wivenhoe Trail for some years now which is now at the stage of action.
The aim of CBC engineers and contractors is to keep the path as open as possible as the works go on; however, a closure regulation is required for the works in case it has to be temporarily closed.

To temporarily close Footpath 129 Colchester, Footpath 130 Colchester and Footpath 8, Wivenhoe in the City of Colchester. Footpath 129 Colchester for a distance of approximately 140 metres from University Quays to its junction with Footpath 130 Colchester. The full extent of Footpath 130 Colchester from its junction with Footpath 129 Colchester to its junction with footpath 8 Wivenhoe. The full extent of footpath 8 Wivenhoe from its junction with footpath 130 Colchester to the High Street, Wivenhoe. The closure is scheduled to commence on 01/10/2022 to 11/11/2022 between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00pm or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while surfacing works to improve the surface of the Wivenhoe trail are undertaken.
