Town Clerk’s Report- Full Town Council meeting 18 January 2021

  1. I met with staff last week and we have agreed a plan for the lockdown period. This will ensure that facilities and the office remain open. I will keep this under review. We have one member of staff furloughed and another who is working additional hours to assist with funerals.
  2. Please share the Facebook posts providing information on the Covid-19 Public Conference on 21 January 2021, hosted by the North East Essex and Suffolk health and care systems and on the Covid-19 website which will provide residents with updates and information on vaccination.
  3. I attended a CALC Clerk’s forum on 14 January 2021. This included an update from CBC on Covid/vaccination and a report from Colchester police. Insp Evans confirmed that they are taking our concerns about drug crime in the area seriously and since the meeting with Phil and I have carried out a number of ‘stop and search’ operations and increased presence. I think it’s important to remember that a lot of their investigations on drug issues are unseen.
  4. Phil and I had a meeting Nick Connell the NW co-ordinator. We will follow this up with a further meeting with Mark Cory who has plans for bringing a number of community services together under one umbrella.
  5. I have a meeting with Mark Cory and Siobhan McLeod on 19 January on Wivenhoe community projects and support. I will provide an update.
  6. A reminder that the Garden Community Briefing will take place on 21 January at 7.30pm. I have circulated the joining details- please let me know if you are attending.
  7. Also, we have a meeting with Mike Pendock, Tarmac on 2 February. If you have any questions, he would be grateful if these could be provided in advance.
