Glenn Widgery

  • Councillor

Dear reader, my name is Glenn Widgery. That’s the easy bit taken care of!

A brief biography. After a time in the Royal Navy, my next step was insurance at Lloyds and then working at various financial institutions in London. My current employer is a French Bank, where I have worked for 33 years in various trading rooms.

I am coming up fast on retirement, and look forward to spending time giving back to the community, volunteering as a Wivenhoe Town Councillor. This leads me into onto hobbies and interests.

I enjoy playing guitar, which is taking some effort to master and speaking French with colleagues at work. I love current affairs, and tackling crosswords and puzzles.

I became a Wivenhoe Town Councillor in 2020, serving on 4 committee’s, with interest in saving the Town from developers and overlooking extensions.

My strengths are given to hard work and to seeing a job through from fruition to sign off.

I am currently in a wheelchair which has given me a different perspective on access to buildings, crossing roads, and faulty pavements. These issues need a look at.
