Dear All,
As some of you may have seen, preparatory work is well underway for the Sensory Garden behind the Scout Hut.
Soon, we’ll be putting in some of the features, which we’re currently pricing up. We may well be eligible for some grant funding for the project, but where possible, it would be great if we could re-use or up-cycle materials that may already be available in the community.
The list below is what we will need. If you have anything you think might fit the bill or can be re-used and are happy to donate it or to have us buy for less-than-new prices, please drop me a line: cllrglyn.evans@wivenhoe.gov.uk or 07899 805803. Otherwise, enquiries@wivenhoe.gov.uk. We would also happily welcome sponsorship, particularly if it helps promote local business… Thanks.
- Hardwood for bench seating – larger pieces
- Wood preservative
- Paint
- Concrete/cement for bases
- Stepping stones (for water feature/pond)
- Rocks (ditto)
- Pond Barrier (waterproof membrane, approx. 12ft square or bigger)
- Stakes/posts for fencing
- Wood/bricks/stone edging for footpath
- Weed barrier
- Wheelchair friendly surfacing material for paths
- Metal or wood or concrete to construct raised beds.
We might well ask for some skills as well – especially if we need to be creative with up-cycling any of the above!
Thanks for reading this and in anticipation of anything you can offer to support this community project!
Cllr Glyn Evans
