Car Park Charges from 6 October 2025- with 4 hours free parking for Wivenhoe Residents
From 6 October 2025, Wivenhoe Town Council is introducing car parking charges to our three car parks at Cooks and on the High Street. Wivenhoe residents will be able to register with NEPP prior to their first use, to be able to park for up to 4 hours free in a 24 hour period.
The decision to introduce charges was made by the council, after much deliberation, to assist in funding resurfacing of the High Street car park, to maintain the public toilet facilities which are a valuable community asset, to deter commuters and to increase turnover of use in the car parks thus increasing footfall in the town for local businesses.
The car park locations are detailed on the attached map.
The charges will be payable using the cashless MiPermit system, which is the most cost effective. Please be reassured that if you are unable to use MiPermit with a Smart phone, WTC staff or MiPermit will be able to assist you.
We have maintained the system of business permits. Business permits will be £200 per year, subject to an agreed application with NEPP.
Residents will need to register with NEPP prior to their first use and then obtain a ticket for each 4 hour free of charge stay using MiPermit when parking. Further information to follow.
