UPDATE ON THE SKATEPARK from Cllr Andrea Luxford-Vaughan

Update on the skatepark

We entirely understand the frustration of residents on why the new skatepark has not been completed yet.

The old skate park had to be removed as it would have become dangerous to use and to repair it would have been a waste of public funds.

Following a public consultation and advice being sought, WTC awarded the contract for the new skatepark, having adhered to the tender process, in 2022. The contractor was chosen based on his design, value for money and enthusiasm as a local who had used the old skate park to create the new one. The company is a small one and this is for them a big project. There followed a period when materials increased in price and unfortunately this, and other factors outside of our control, have caused delays. With hindsight, WTC could have chosen a more established contractor, but we are confident that the skatepark will be delivered and will be a design that boarders will love.
