Minibus

Wivenhoe Town Council’s ‘Communty Bus’ was made possible by generous donations from the community to the Wivenhoe Mayor’s Charity Fund.

You may have noticed the strange spelling of community which started with the misspelling by sign writers on the first bus.

The current vehicle purchased in 2017, is a Ford Transit LWB, 14 seater including driver, with RICON S2030 internal hydraulic lift that is suitable for ambulant wheelchair users. It has a 2.2 litre diesel engine, 6 speed gearbox with power assisted steering and reversing camera. All seats are fitted with safety belts.

The vehicle cannot be used on a profit making basis, nor can it be used for hire or reward, or picking up the public at large. Drivers must have a full UK driving licence which includes the category D1 or equivalent, be over 25 years of age, with at least 2 years driving experience.

Wivenhoe Town Council have made the decision that the community bus will no longer be available for use at the weekends or for longer journeys outside of Wivenhoe.

It will still continue to be available for all of the groups and clubs that use it locally throughout the week.

This is to ensure that the bus remains in use for as long as possible for the groups that rely on it by cutting down on the mileage.

Our Funding Officer is already sourcing grants for WTC to purchase a replacement- we’ll keep you updated.
