  2. Minutes of the last annual meeting held on 9 May 2018.
  3. To receive the annual report of the Town Council and financial statement.
  4. To discuss any specific points which residents wish to raise

  5. To consider any resolutions which may be proposed.
  6. Distribution of Mayor’s Charity Fund.
  7. Introduction of Cllr Nick Tile, Town Mayor for 2019/20.

Minutes of the WTC Annual Town Meeting held on Wednesday 8 May 2019 at the William Loveless Hall

 

Meeting opened 7.30pm

 

Present: Cllrs Needham, Booth, Read, Tile, Newton, Boughton, Aldis, Luxford-Vaughan, Maurice Howard (RFO), Jo Beighton-Emms (Town Clerk), Michael Smither (Ground Staff), Mandy Smart (Admin), Cllr Mark Cory, Mayoress Audrey Crosby, Jeannie Coverley (photographer) and 37 members of the public

 

Apologies: Cllrs Nash, Evans

 

Minutes of last meeting: Proposed Jeannie Coverley, Seconded Cllr Luxford-Vaughan. Carried

 

Cllr Needham welcomed all, including Cllr Tile who will be the Mayor for 2019-20. Cllr Needham acknowledged an interesting and very active year He thanked his fellow councillors for their support and direction, Kevin Harkin, Temp. Office Manager and RFO Maurice Howard for their support and encouragement. He welcomed Jo our new Town Clerk and expressed his thanks to all staff for their support

 

Annual Report & Financial Statement: Proposed Cllr Tile, Seconded Cllr Booth. Carried

 

Special point, residents raised: M Smither, parking on pavements in the Town, frustration for cyclists, pedestrians, children to and from school, wheelchair users, pushchair access, damage to pavements. WTC unable to enforce, no authority, CBC, NEPP, Police unwilling or unable to enforce. WTC to write to ECC

 

Resolutions

 

Charity Fund: Cheques for 20 organisations were distributed. Cllr Needham said that WTC was not able to include all organisations in the Town as it was difficult to be fair to all, have avoided spreading monies too thinly so that cheques presented are of an amount to make a significant difference to the charities chosen this year

 

Intro Mayor 2019/20: Cllr Tile thanked Cllr Needham for his efforts to bring the Council together during a difficult year. Expressed trepidation for the role he was taking on but said that he was looking forward to the challenge
